Abstract. This article is the first part of a critical review of the works from Vol. 18, no. 2 of the Lower Volga Archaeological Bulletin, dedicated to the Scythian-Sarmatian period and the coverage of the categories of material culture of this era. The issue was published in 2019 and was dedicated to the anniversary of Prof, Irina P. Zasetskaya.
Key words: the fall of Scythia, “Kuban Type” helmets, early Sarmatian mirrors, metal rings of the “Zubovsky-Vozdvizhenskaya Type”, glass skyphos, nomad hunting, silver bowls of the Sadovy kurgan, non-standard burials, bracelet from Salamatino.
