Abstract. The article provides an overview of the 12th All-Russian Scientific Conference “Problems of Sarmatian Archaeology and History”, held in Vladikavkaz on May 18–22, 2026. The paper examines the principal directions of scholarly discussion devoted to the cultural genesis of Sauromat and Sarmatian cultures and contemporary approaches to the study of early nomadic societies of Eurasia. Particular attention is paid to reports addressing regional patterns in the formation of Sauromat and Sarmatian cultures, migration processes, intercultural interactions, funerary traditions, and issues of ethnogenesis. A separate thematic block was formed by reports on interdisciplinary research methods, including physical anthropology, paleopathology, palynology, and paleopedology. The conference proceedings demonstrate current trends in Sarmatian studies and outline promising directions for further research into cultural-genetic processes in the steppe zone of Eurasia.
