Abstract. The study focuses on the typology and chronology of the distribution of handmade, slightly polished tableware for drinking with a simple loop handle, which was used by the population of the Elizavetovskoe settlement in the Tanais delta in the 5th – 4th centuries BC. The paper provides parallels between the Elizavetovskoe pottery and earlier vessels, as well as samples from other cultures of the Scythian period inhabiting the territories adjacent to the Don Delta. A linguistic analysis carried out by the author made it possible to propose the term kuhliks for the studied category of handmade ceramics. Based on morphological differences, the kuhliks were divided into four types (with a total of 9 known items). Type I combined vessels with a rounded body, a narrow neck, and an arched rim. Depending on the handle attachment points, they are further subdivided into three options: IA – handle attached to the upper edge and mid-height; IB – handle attached to the shoulder and mid-body; IC – handle attached to the mid-body and lower body. Type II contains kuhliks with a biconical body, a narrow neck, and a low rim slightly bent outward. Type III consists of egg-shaped vessels with a narrow neck and a low, slightly everted rim. Type IV represents kuhliks shaped like an inverted truncated cone with a rounded upper edge. The analysis of molded handmade vessels with a simple loop handle originating from the Lower Don region showed the absence of connection between the Bronze Age pottery and the Elizavetovskoe kuhliki. At the same time, on the territory of the Elizavetovskoe settlement, despite a short period of existence, several types of kuhliks coexisted at the same time, some of which could have been formed under the influence of the population living on the territory of the Interfluve of the Dnieper and the Seversky Donets, as well as the Kuban Right Bank.
