Abstract. The article is dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Professor Sergei Yu. Monakhov, Doctor of Sciences (History), whose whole life has been connected with Saratov State University. Professor Monakhov has passed all the stages of the university career from a junior researcher at the archaeological laboratory to a professor at the Department of Ancient World History. Currently, he is the head of this department and the head of the Institute of Archeology and Cultural Heritage of Saratov State University. Several large-scale scientific projects have been implemented under his scientific leadership.
